Recent News: President Obama to Forgive Underwater Mortgages Through Fannie and Freddie?
According to a recent Reuter's commentary, many in Washington, D.C. believe the Obama administration is about to order lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to forgive a portion of the mortgage debt of millions of homeowners who owe more than what their homes are worth. Currently, an estimated 15 million U.S. mortgages, one in five, are underwater. The bailout could be part of the Home Affordable Refinance Program, or HARP, a sister program to Obama’s loan modification effort (HAMP). HARP was just extended through June 30, 201. Contact an attorney in our office to find out if you are eligible to lower your monthly mortgage payments.
You may retain our firm to negotiate a debt settlement without filing for bankruptcy. For some individuals, filing for bankruptcy may not be the best option.
